Grouping by Abilities

چکیده
ment do not reach the university, ninety per cent do not finish the high school and sixty-five per cent do not complete the elementary grades constitutes conclusive evidence that our existing scheme of presentation is satisfying only an exceedingly small group. Economic consideration of the individual and the training necessary to enable him "to be worth his keep," demand that we ascertain very early in the life of the individual his potential abilities, the most efficacious method of approach toward learning and his ultimate assignment in the scheme of life. This consideration and assignment to specific occupational and educational regimen is the problem of the psychologist. Just as study of disease prevention has developed from a study of pathology, so has the necessity for properly caring for the "bright" child resulted from the sad realization of the hopelessness and waste of attempting intellectual achievement with the deficient

The Development of Perceptual Grouping in Infants with Williams Syndrome
Perceptual grouping by luminance similarity and by proximity was investigated in infants with Williams syndrome (WS) aged between 6 and 36 months (visit 1, N=29). WS infants who were still under 36 months old, 8 months later, repeated the testing procedure (visit 2, N=15). Performance was compared to typically developing (TD) infants aged from 2 to 20 months (N=63). Consistent with the literatu...
متن کاملPerceptual grouping across eccentricity
Across the visual field, progressive differences exist in neural processing as well as perceptual abilities. Expansion of stimulus scale across eccentricity compensates for some basic visual capacities, but not for high-order functions. It was hypothesized that as with many higher-order functions, perceptual grouping ability should decline across eccentricity. To test this prediction, psychophy...
متن کاملCharacteristics of perceptual grouping in rats.
Parametric analysis was made of the characteristics by which proximity and alignment serve as cues for perceptual grouping in rats. Rats were initially conditioned to discriminate a series of horizontal lines from vertical lines. Following training, rats were presented with test stimuli that consisted of bistable arrays of disjunct dots. A grouping cue (greater proximity, greater alignment, or ...

In regard to the role of Aluminium in the emergence of psychological disorded in patients with chronic kidney diseases, this research project studied the acute, and chronic effects of Alluminium on different stages of memory and learning abilitis, after grouping the rats Alluminium chloride with concentrations of 1mg,5mg,10mg and 20 mg was used per kg of body weight.the Alluminium was given by int...
متن کاملPerceptual deficits after lesions of inferotemporal cortex in macaques.
This study used a novel approach to examine a much studied question, the nature of visual deficits caused by lesions of the inferotemporal cortex (IT). Unlike many previous studies of IT lesions, we de-emphasized early, non-specific disruptions of testing caused by the lesions, and instead concentrated on permanent changes in thresholds. This approach produced unexpected results that suggest a ...
متن کاملExperience-dependent emergence of a grouping bias.
Humans share with non-human animals perceptual biases that might form the basis of complex cognitive abilities. One example comes from the principles described by the iambic-trochaic law (ITL). According to the ITL, sequences of sounds varying in duration are grouped as iambs, whereas sequences varying in intensity are grouped as trochees. These grouping biases have gained much attention becaus...
